A world-class team,taught in a small room
Brazilian Top Team produced UFC and PRIDE champions. The academy on Merritt Island teaches the same jiu-jitsu — to about twenty people at a time, six days a week.

Brazilian Top Team was founded in Rio de Janeiro in 2000 by four jiu-jitsu black belts: Murilo Bustamante, Ricardo Libório, José Mario Sperry, Luis Roberto Duarte. It grew from one academy in Rio into an association with branches all over the world. Its purpose has not changed: help people develop through jiu-jitsu and the way of thinking that comes with it.
The team is led today by Master Murilo Bustamante — Jiu-Jitsu and MMA world champion, and the first Brazilian to win a UFC belt. He leads Brazilian Top Team today.
Names that came through the academy shaped the sport: the Nogueira brothers and Vitor Belfort in PRIDE and the UFC, Ricardo Arona, Paulo Filho, Carlos Barreto and Alan Goes. That record is why the patch on the back of the gi means something.
MerrittIsland
BTT Merritt Island is headed by Professor Marshall Kemper. He has been training jiu-jitsu since 2005 and joined the Brazilian Top Team family in 2008.
The academy is owned and run by the people who teach in it — Marshall alongside Mike Hoats and Daryl Chumtraruk. It is family owned, veteran owned, and local.
Classes are kept deliberately small. You get corrected in the room, by name, rather than following along at the back of a crowd. Kids and adults train under the same roof, most weeks side by side.
